What’s New
Closing a conversation from inside it has always asked you to confirm first.
That’s a useful guardrail when you close one thing by accident — and a real
drag when you’re working through a batch of spam or clearing out a backlog,
because the same popup appears every time and there was no way to turn it off.
Now there is. The confirmation has a Don’t ask again checkbox. Tick it,
confirm the close, and from then on the close button (and the e shortcut)
closes conversations in one step.
What you may notice
- The “Close this conversation?” dialog now has a Don’t ask again — close
conversations without confirming checkbox above the buttons. - Ticking it applies to your account, not just this browser, so it follows you
to your other computers and survives signing out. - To bring the prompt back, open the gear icon next to the Inboxes panel in
the inbox and turn Confirm before closing a conversation back on under
Your inbox preferences. - Nothing changes if you leave the box alone — you’ll keep getting the
confirmation exactly as before. - Closing several conversations at once from the list (the “…” menu →
Select conversations) still skips the confirmation, as it always has.
